[scribes]: introduction ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 18 Mar 2001 11:30:59 +1030 From: Jon Grotto Subject: [scribes]: HAIL FROM INNILGARD Hello All, Just a short note of introduction. My name is Cainnear na Ruad, and I've been in the SCA for several years now. I completed a Certificate of calligraphy and illumination mundanely before I ever heard of the Society, and to my delight, found that I could pursue my passion within and for the Game. In the real world, my name is Suzanne Hanna, and I'm a third year Psychology student as well as a dance teacher and hostess. My interests are Celtic history and culture - predictably, my great love is for Celtic manuscripts. I look forward to hearing from all others who labour with pen and brush, and delight in ink-stained fingers! Regards, Cainnear. =================================================================== To unsubscribe from this list, send email to with a blank Subject: line and unsubscribe scribes in the body of the message. On average, the longest lead time we get in the Midrealm is one week. Yep, you heard me right, one week. Sometimes it's three or four days. Sometimes it's less than 48 hours. Mostly, though, it's a week. All of which really leads me to wonder about the workings of our Signet offices on the Regional and Kingdom levels. > >One thing that really rattles my cage these days is the expectation of there > being a "Scribe's Room" at an event at which Royalty is in attendance, > > Saradwen, I really feel for you and others out there. I'd go absolutely > bonkers, Spent 6 years cooped up in Scribe's rooms back in my earliest days in the SCA (and we're talking the late 70's and early 80's, quite a long time ago!). After that, I began regretting missing so many events and wanted to participate instead of work. So that's when I went rather inactive as a working scribe. When I went back to it, I vowed that I would NEVER bring my scribe box to events. And I don't. I've spent parts of recent Pennsics scribing, but now that I am a member of a HUGE Household, and am a Protegé to a Pelican who is the head of our Household, in which there are also 15 Squires, so I do a lot of battlefield duty serving our small Household army. No time to scribe at Pennsic anymore! ~Saradwen Midrealm =================================================================== To unsubscribe from this list, send email to with a blank Subject: line and unsubscribe scribes in the body of the message. My mundane name is Bethany Cole and I am from Arizona. My SCA name is Rowan Bridgit Blackmoor and I live in the Kingdom of Atenveldt, in the Barony of Sundragon. I became interested in scribing when Alex the Scribe, who is now my mother, taught a class at my school. I have since been taking class with her and the other local scribes in my area. I have only completed two full scrolls and am working on more. It will be nice to have more contacts to receive advice from. -Rowan Blackmoor (Atenveldt, Barony of Sundragon) Bethany Cole =================================================================== To unsubscribe from this list, send email to with a blank Subject: line and unsubscribe scribes in the body of the message.
